Se encontraron 203 nidos de abejas sin aguijón pertenecientes a 15 especies en 11 cementerios de los departamentos de Cundinamarca y Meta (Colombia). El 61% de los nidos encontrados pertenecen a abejas del género Nannotrigona Cokerell, 1922. La especie con el mayor número de nidos y mayor representatividad en los cementerios estudiados fue Nannotrigona mellaria; Trigona (Tetragonisca) angustula se encontró en todos los cementerios estudiados pero, en un porcentaje menor que N. mellaria (29% del total). In this work, four species of Trigona (T. branneri, T. chanchamayoensis, T. hyalinata, and T. recursa) from the municipality of Cuiabá, in the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil, were studied. In all of the species, the females had 2n = 34 chromosomes and the males had n = 17. The C-banding patterns showed that the karyotypes of these species consisted mainly of acrocentric and pseudoacrocentric chromosomes. Labor division in the stingless bee Melipona compressipes fasciculata Smith was analyzed and compared with that of other eusocial bees Meliponini and Trigonini. The results showed a sequence of activities which was similar to that of other stingless bees already studied, such as: grooming; cerumen work; cell construction; cleaning; the colony; provisioning and oviposition process; ventilation; enclosure gap; nectar reception; and foraging.
